BACKGROUND
- Cancer can afflict and any child, from whatever social status.
- According to the WHO (World Health Organization), 400,000 children aged 0-19 years are diagnosed with cancer every year, equivalent to 1 child every 2 minutes. (source: "Policy on Handling Cancer in Children", Denpasar Discussion Forum12, September 8, 2021, dr. Cut Putri Arianie, MHKes, Director of P2PTM – Directorate General of P2P, Ministry of Health).
- Cancer in children can be cured if the best treatment and therapy are carried out as soon as detected.
- Due to the length of treatment, inpatient or outpatient children with cancer and/or other chronic diseases generally are forced to leave school with no other activities to occupy their time.
- Children suffering from cancer and/or other chronic diseases are entitled to an education including the right to play even if they are in the process of treatment and/or hospitalization.
- Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 20/2003 Article 4 paragraph 1 – concerning the Principles of Education Implementation.

VISION
Facilitate students with cancer and other chronic diseases to participate in learning activities and play during the treatment period, in order not to drop out of school.
MISSION
- Provide learning and playing opportunities for students at the pre-school, elementary, middle, and high school levels during the treatment and therapy period, to enable them to continue to their next class level in their original school.
- Cooperate with nearby schools through local education agencies to become entrusted schools for students to take their national exam.
SEKOLAH-KU for the continuity of education for children with cancer.
- MY SCHOOL program is given free of charge.
- SEKOLAH-KU is supported by professional educators (Bachelor of Education, Psychologists) who carry out Teaching and Learning Activities (KBM) according to the government’s standard curriculum.
- Especially for children under the age of toddlers, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten, SEKOLAH KU is supported by ECCE educators, so that students can continue to the next level (SD) once they are old enough.
- SEKOLAH KU establishes communication with the student's home school, to ensure the student’s learning marks is properly transferred.
- SEKOLAH-KU enables parents to rest or fill their time with activities while the child is in RUMAH KITA or in the Hospital.
- SEKOLAH-KU is in the process of exploring with the Ministry of National Education to obtain an operational permit for a special curriculum for the Teaching and Learning Activities in transit houses and hospitals.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?
- You can become a volunteer teacher for children and/ volunteer or parents whose children are under treatment at the hospital.
- Become a donor of teaching and learning activity (KBM) materials in the form of reading books, teaching aids for the pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, elementary, high school levels, or children's toys.
- You can donate through @ksi10,000 which is specifically intended for the procurement, development, maintenance and operational costs of transit houses RUMAH KITA as well as the implementation of SEKOLAH-KU in 8 cities.
